In nonfiction or fiction, if the writer is quoting a real person or a real work, they must accurately check person and publication name spellings. If cities, states, and countries are included, please confirm those spellings as well. It doesn’t matter if the writer “used to live there, I should know how to spell it”, typos happen. Also, who we think said something may not be who actually said it. Trust but verify.

Give credit where credit is due when using longer quotes, graphics, and photos. Get permission if need be.
